My name is Wilson Perez Arbis, a tattoo artist of Filipino heritage with ancestral roots spanning the Northern and Central regions of the Philippines. My mother’s lineage traces back to the Ibaloy people of Benguet, in the Cordilleran Mountains of Northern Luzon, while my father’s family originates from Amaya, Cavite, in Central Luzon—grounding my identity in both Igorot and Tagalog heritage.
I am currently based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, where I have worked in the tattoo industry since 2005. My early career was shaped in well-established street studios across Cronulla, Darlinghurst, and Bondi, experiences that formed a strong foundation in contemporary tattooing.
Alongside modern machine tattooing, I am recognised as one of the very few artists in Australia—and possibly the only practitioner—actively implementing traditional bamboo and rattan hand-tapping techniques. My work is deeply focused on the preservation, practice, and evolution of Filipino Batok, an ancient tattooing tradition of the Cordilleran peoples. Through this method, I aim to honour ancestral knowledge while thoughtfully integrating contemporary Australian influences and design language.
With decades of experience behind me, I am deeply committed to sharing the knowledge I have gained and to educating others on the richness, resilience, and historical depth of the Igorot Nation. My practice stands as both a cultural continuation and a living dialogue between tradition and the modern world.make an enquiry through our website.
